Self Improvement
I have been on a journey of self improvement of the mind since the end of my first marriage. I truly wanted to know and understand the role that I played and why my values and beliefs were so different from my wife at the time.
There is a lot that goes into getting relationships right but that was not my focus as it was to understand me better. My thinking was that if I couldn’t get my understanding of self right how would anyone else understand.
I had many hours of counseling but none of that really focused on the mindset which I have come to understand more as a result of reading Dean Whittingham’s book Reprogramming the Mind For Success. And now I have tools to combat any and all behaviors and thinking in me that I wish to change.
Many people struggle with some form of addictive behavior mine was sex. As a child I acquired my dose of negative interaction in the family that helped me form low self esteem and confidence which I work on continually building today.
As a result of my feelings as I youngster I turned to pornography and masturbation to make myself feel good. Our brain releases a chemical called Dopamine as a reward for doing something pleasurable. When you do something that makes us feel good within ourselves, our body is experiencing a rush of dopamine. And let me tell you I was a stone cold addict for that stuff.
So basically I had to wean myself from the dopamine high that I wanted to experience when things were not good in my life. Dopamine is no different from any other chemical or drug and until you realize this it is hard to understand that we have become addicted to a behavior.
Mastering the Mind
I had implemented strategies that have been very helpful and have had success with, but knowing how mind power works can be a really useful tool to call upon.
I have now implemented a reprogramming the mind for success strategy and I can see real positive change happening in many areas of my life today.
Get control of your mind by becoming the master through understanding how it works.
Thanks for reading my post and I look forward to more sharing in the future.
Have a most outstanding day.
